Headphones are in essence are a minitaure version of a normal speaker. The difference between a headphone and speaker is their size and portability but also how personal they are to the user. Due to their small size they are very portable but allow for real quality sound while looking stylish. Headphones are overhead and consist of two ear cups which sit on each of the users ears and provide direct sound into the ear. Headphones usually come with a auxillary wire allowing the headphones to be connected to a phone, MP3 or computer. It is becoming more often that wireless headphones are being produced and these require the use of batteries in the headphones. Headphones are designed to provide music to the user while not disturbing people around him, to achive this sound leaking materials are used in the earcup pads. The price of headphones varies due to the brand name, materials used and quality of sound, headphones can be brought for as little as £10 but for really good headphones the price can range all the way up to £350.

Speakers come with TV, Radio, Cars and some computers. Speakers can be connected to a device via two wires a red and black wire which can be connected to their coresponding ports. Speakers are mainly made from wood but can be made from plastic or metal. The price of speakers varies from as little as £10 all the way up to £70,000 (Muon). Dock
Dock are a set of speakers that come housed together along side a port that allows a device such as a phone or MP3 player to sit in and play music through. Dock's often come with controls on the housing in forms of buttons and some also come equiped with a remote control. Dock's are more personal than speakers and are often small enough to be portable. As they can be portable they often come equipped with rechageable batteries with enough life for the dock to be used for along time. Docking stations also act as a charger for the device, eliminating the use of different wires. Docks are likely to come with additional features such as an alarm or radio.
