This is the pie chart for the first question, Do you own a portable speaker?. 52% of the responses were yes and 48% of the responses were no. I was suprised by this result as i expected the majority of answers to be yes to people owning a speaker. This shows that my initial thoughts were wrong and that the market of a portable speaker isnt as large as i expected.

I asked how often a user uses a speaker of any kind and the biggest reponse was now and then. This could be due to the fact that they only use speakers on special occasions such as being in the garden in nice weather or for party's/gatherings when friends are around. The second highest result was that a speaker is never used. This result came mainly from all then people who dont own a speaker but some of the votes where by people who do own a speaker.

I asked what device the user uses to play music as this plays an important part of the functionality of the speaker if i was to add a dock. Most people use an apple device to play music through their speaker and the ipod was the favourite with the iphone not far behind. I asked this question so i could tailor the speaker to the customers need and by asking this i was able to fiund that apple was the most popular so i can therefor market the speaker along side this and add features such as air play so the speaker will work exceptionally well with apple devices.

I asked what features and aspects the customer would look for in a portable speaker and the two highest results i got were that it has to be lightweight and wireless. The wireless connectivity recieved the highest vote. The user will want a speaker to have this as it is modern but also reduces the need for wire's. This will make the speaker easier to use and more ergonomic. weight was also a big want for the customer in the speaker being lightweight. This is due to the fact no one wants to be carrying round a heavy speaker when it is supposed to be portable, so the lightweight will make it more comfortable and easier for the customer to carry.

I asked what the customer buys a speaker for so i know what to spend more time on when making and designing. Sound quality got the highest vote with size comming above the design. KEF prides itself on sound quality and the fact that people are most interested in sound quality is good so i will spend a large amount of tuime researching and developing how to get the best sound quality. The size was also important to the customer so i will work hard to make the design as small as possible without loosing sound quality or making it look bad. the size is also imporatant as it is a portable speaker so it cant be to big.
